Plot 704 on the Sidmouth Tithe Map of 1839 is recorded as 'Barn Close Meadow' within the accompanying Tithe Apportionment. The field name indicates the location of a barn within close proximity to the field, and may relate to the group of buildings within plot 705 to the east which are recorded as an 'Outhouse and Yard' within the Tithe Apportionment.
