A quarry of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the northwest of Sampford Peverell. The quarry is irregular in shape, measures approximately 29m in length by 27m in width and has been cut into the side of a steep east facing spur. The quarry is located in an area where extensive remains of quarrying are depicted on historical mapping. It remains visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from Lidar data captured between 2005 and 2010.
