On the 1841 West Alvington tithe map, there a group of five fields located on the west bank of the Kingsbridge Estuary and east of Gerston Farm that contain the element 'Coypool' (Plots 1137,1110, 1109, 1107 and 1108).

On the 1841 West Alvington tithe map, there a group of five fields located on the west bank of the Kingsbridge Estuary and east of Gerston Farm that contain the element 'Coypool' (Plots 1137,1110, 1109, 1107 and 1108). This would suggest a pond was once located hereabouts, although there is not one illustrated on the tithe map. Conversely, marshland is indicated in the southeast corner of this group on the 1st and 2nd edition 25 inch OS map either (c.1880s and 1904-6) and a pond on the modern OS vector map.
