Summary

According to local tradition Stoke Gabriel originated as a monastic house. Ruins of what were supposed to be the monastery were found in the orchard at the east end of the church when excavating for a drain. However, there are no visible remains.

Alleged site of a monastery near the present church, no visible remains.
