The remains of a former field boundary and earthwork ridges were visible on aerial photographs of 1946 to the east of Tillhouse Farm, Broadcylst.
The banks were between circa 6 and 7 metres in width and extend over an area of circa 5000 square metres in two parcels. They are interpreted as probable fruit tree planting banks of post-medieval to 20th century date, made to enhance drainage within an orchard.
The northernmost parcel of circa 1600 square metres is visible as banks cleared on trees on aerial photographs of 1946. These have probably now been levelled. They are not visible as earthworks on digital images derived from lidar data, on which the southernmost parcel of circa 3500 square metres can be seen to survive as subtle earthwork banks. These parcels of banks fall within the area of a formerly much larger orchard as depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch first edition map, one of two associated with Tillhouse Farm.
