A possible slit trench of Second World War date is visible as an earthwork ditch and banked feature on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the west of Uphams Plantation. The east to west aligned earthwork comprises a linear ditch, measuring approximately 23m in length, which is flanked to the north and south by two possible earthwork banks. The trench is likely associated with the infantry training exercises carried out on Woodbury Common during the Second World War, part of Dalditch camp located to the south. The earthwork ditch remains visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2010.
