The remains of a possible field boundary of post-medieval to 19th century date was visible as an earthwork bank on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the south-east of Venn Cross, Whimple. The possible bank was not visible on more recent images available to the survey and has probably been levelled

Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

The earthwork bank does not correspond with any depicted features.

A lLinear earthwork bank was visible.

The remains of a possible field boundary of post-medieval to 19th century date was visible as an earthwork bank on aerial photographs of the 1940s on a north-west facing slope to the south-east of Venn Cross, Whimple.
The visible bank was circa 5 metres wide and 120 metres long. It did not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Whimple which supports the interpretation that the boundaries had passed out of use prior to the 1840s.
The possible bank was not visible on more recent images available to the survey and has probably been levelled
