Orchard banks of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, at Cannonwalls Farm. The site of the orchard is first symbolised on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, although by 1946, aerial photographs show that the orchard trees have been almost completely grubbed up, leaving a series of parallel east to west aligned earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established, visible. These banks occupy an area of 0.26 hectares of fairly level land on the north side of Cannonwalls Farm, within a single triangular shaped plot shown on historic maps. The orchard banks remain visible as possible slight earthwork banks on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2010.
