An extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1944 onwards, to the north of Upham Farm. The sub-circular shaped earthwork, which measures approximately 29m in length by 26m in width, appears to have been later re-used as a possible pond and is depicted as such on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. The earthwork pit remains visible on aerial photographs of 1966, although appears to have been levelled by 1985.
