Full description
Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.
The cropmark features were located immediately adjacent to a depicted water channel.

A possible ditched enclosure was visible on aerial photographs of 1992 as a cropmark on the gentle south-west facing slopes overlooking the River Culm to the south of Columbjohn Cross. The cropmarks are probably partial, visible within a small area of parching, but possibly define a rectilinear enclosure of unknown date circa 32 metres long and at least 13 metres wide. Alternatively, the linear cropmarks may be evidence of ditches associated with, or a continuation of, a drain or leat depicted on the Ordnance Survey first edition 25 inch map of circa 1880.
