Possible ditched enclosures of late prehistoric to Roman date were visible on aerial photographs of 1966 as cropmarks on a hilltop to the south-west of Columbjohn Farm. The cropmarks were indistinct in places but could be interpreted as defining a series of conjoined oval or rectilinear enclosures up to 40 metres wide. Further investigation by geophysical survey is recommended.
