A possible military structure of Second World War date is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the northwest of Southwood Cross. The rectangular shaped, flat roof structure of a possible pillbox measures approximately 4m in length by 2.5m in width and is sited adjacent to a road and Dispersed Site 5 for RAF Exeter. It remains depicted as a possible extant structure on the 2015 Ordnance Survey MasterMap. A brief site inspection is recommended to help clarify the nature of this possible military structure.
