Earthwork banks of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible on aerial photographs of 1946 and 1947, at Rockbeare. The earthworks, which are north to south aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.35 hectares of fairly level land, may represent the remains of 18th-19th cultivation banks or represent the site of a former orchard, the banks providing improved drainage and increased soil depth for the fruit trees. The earthwork banks appear to have been completely levelled by 1963.
