Full description
Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.
'Scobetor' shown on 19th century Tithe Map as a large irregular shaped building with three smaller buildings to the east and south in an irregular shaped yard. The Apportionment for 'Scobiter' lists Field Number 841 as 'House Yard & Garden'.

Jonas Coaker's 1876 poem on Widecombe in the Moor (included in Robert Dymond's book) mentions Scobitor as 'Scobetor', purchased by Esquire Hern who 'built houses there and fences too'.
