The remains of a former artillery observation post lie on firm stoney ground at the foot of the northern flank of Okement Hill.
The roughly rectangular scatter of turf covered boulders measures 6.0m north to south by 7.5m. A hollow in the south side, presumably the site of the shelter, contains cast concrete blocks and sections of reinforcing rod. The origin of this feature is not certain though many of the OPs on Okehampton Range are though to date from early 20th century (a).
A well built turf and stone bank and ditch run east from the former OP and terminate on the edge of streamworks flanking the East Okement River (SX 68 NW 90). The bank measures 2.8m wide and 1.0m high with the ditch on the north side 1.8m wide and 0.7m dep. The function of this feature is unclear.
