Possible former field boundaries of potential medieval to post-medieval date are visible as earthwork ditches on aerial photographs of 1963 onwards, at Monkerton. The linear boundaries are northwest to southeast and northeast to southwest aligned and closely respect the historic field patterns depicted on the Pinhoe Parish Tithe Map of medieval enclosures based on strip fields, although the boundaries appear to have passed out of use by this time. The earthwork ditches of the possible former field boundaries remain visible on Lidar-derived images of 1998 and 2005.
