(02/09/1993) The remains of a former artillery Observation Post on the crest of the ridge between the Steeperton Brook and River Taw 1500m south of Steeperton Tor.
The remains now comprise a roughly circular stoney mound measuring 17.5m north to south by 20.0m and standing a maximum of 0.75m high. The mound is largely grass and reed covered though some stone protrudes. On the western and north western sides concrete slabs, steel reinforcing rods and girders are also visible.
A smaller stoney mound, 7.8m in diameter and 0.3m high lies immediately to the south east. It is not certain what this latter feature represents. The date of construction of this structure is not certain though many of the OPs on Okehampton Range are thought to date from the early 20th century (citing personal comment Major D Mills, O/C Live Firing, Okehampton Camp, Okehampton, Devon).
