Full description
Environment Agency, 1998-2014, LiDAR DTM data (1m resolution), LIDAR SX9295 Environment Agency DTM 01-JAN-1998 to 30-SEP-2014 (Cartographic). SDV359177.
A pit was visible as a shallow earthwork.

A former possible quarry or extractive pit of probable post-medieval to 19th century date was visible digital images derived from lidar data as subtle earthworks on Roman Hill, north of Exeter.
The roughly oval pit measured approximately 20 metres long and 10 metres wide and was surrounded by a low earthwork bank, probably spread spoil. It was situated on a slight spur on the east-facing slopes of Roman Hill, approximately 90 metres east of the remains of a Roman Signal Station.
The earthworks do not correspond with any features depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map and was therefore probably disused by the mid to late 19th century.
