Earthworks of possible former post-medieval to modern extraction pits or a natural hollow are visible on aerial photographs of 1948 onwards, to the southwest of Cuthays. The two adjacent earthworks are oval in shape, with the larger of the two measuring up to 37m in length, and are located on gentle to moderate northwest facing slope. Whilst the earthworks recorded here have been interpreted as more likely representing former extraction pits or quarries, the subtle nature of the earthworks may also suggest they are of natural origin. Slight earthworks are visible here on Lidar-derived images of between 1998-2014.
