Summary

A ditch terminus and a pit were recorded during excavations to the north of the White House, undertaken as part of a programme of archaeological works along the route of a gas pipeline. No dating evidence was recovered but it is possible that these features form part of a dispersed medieval/post medieval settlement.

Site ATK 12.12. In the western part of the site was a curving ditch terminus (12.12.011) which measured 0.82 metres wide and 0.47 metres deep. To the west was a pit (12.12.014), 0.8 metres diameter and 0.21 metres deep with a single fill of dark brown sandy silt. Undated.

Site 13. Trackway at White House, Powderham. In the western part of the site was a curving ditch terminus (12.12.011) which was 0.82 metres wide and 0.47 metres deep and which extended for about 2 metres into the excavation area. Immediately to the west was a pit (12.12.014), 0.8 metres diameter and 0.21 metres deep. No dating evidence was recovered but it is possible that these features form part of a dispersed medieval/post medieval settlement.
