Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

House is depicted on the Tithe Map; 570 on the Mary Tavy apportionment 'House and garden: Marytavy Village'. House is a rectangle shape, aligned north-west by south-east.

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

The late 19th century historic map shows the house is unchanged since the Tithe Map depiction. Presumably it was associated with Wheal Friendship mine, perhaps as workers accommodation. It is located just adjacent to the leat running through the mine and near to the calciners.

Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.

The early 20th century historic map shows the property is unchanged from the late 19th century historic map depiction.

Ordnance Survey, 1953-1969, 1953-1969 National Grid OS A edition imperial (Cartographic). SDV352727.

By the 1950s, the property has been extended further, with a long, narrow extension set behind the original house, extending westwards. The Post Office by this time is now housed in the new building on the opposite side of the road.

Ordnance Survey, 2016, MasterMap (Cartographic). SDV359352.

Brookside is depicted on the modern mapping.
