Earthwork banks of potential medieval field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, at Battens Farm. The linear and curvilinear earthworks are northeast to southwest and northwest to southeast aligned and generally respect the historic field patterns depicted on the Parish Tithe Map, although appear to have passed out of use by this time. The fields here have been classified under the Historic Landscape Characterisation project as ‘medieval enclosures and post-medieval enclosures with medieval elements’. The earthworks remain visible on Lidar-derived images captured between 1998-2014.
