Orchard banks of probable post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, at Langbridge Farm. An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. Aerial photographs of 1947 show that the orchard is largely covered with trees, although earthwork banks are partly visible. The trees have been largely cleared by 1996, exposing a series of northwest to southeast aligned earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established. These banks occupy an area of approximately 0.15 hectares of gentle to moderate southeast facing slope, within a single plot depicted on the First Edition OS map. The orchard banks remain partly visible here on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2010 and lidar data captured in 2016, although part of the plot has been levelled for construction of an agricultural building.
