An extraction pit of possible medieval or post-medieval date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the north of Middle Moorhayne Farm. The sub-circular shaped earthwork measures approximately 37m in diameter and abuts an historic field boundary along its eastern edge. A kink in the field boundary here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map may suggest it post-dates the extraction pit and so may be of some age. The earthwork pit is still visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2014.
