The copy of the Tithe Map available to the survey was damaged and incompletely visible in this area. It does incompletely show the northern plot to be planted with trees at this date.

The remains of probable post-medieval to 19th century ridges made for fruit tree planting and improved orchard drainage were visible as low, parallel earthwork banks on aerial photographs of the 1980s, across two adjacent plots on the south-west-facing slopes of the combe of a tributary of the River Otter, Luppitt Parish.
The banks were aligned cross contour and spaced approximately 6 metres apart. The earthworks in the northern plot appear to correspond with a plot depicted as an orchard on the Tithe map for Luppit. The Ordnance Survey 25 inch First Edition map depicts a number of non-coniferous trees planted throughout the field but not in the typical orchard convention. This might support the interpretation that the orchard had fallen out of use by the 1880s. The plot had been completely cleared of trees by 1947. The banks are clearly available as earthworks on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2010, and probably survive as low earthworks.
