An earthwork pit of a probable post-medieval to 19th century clay pit is visible on aerial photographs of 1948 onwards, to the southwest of Hartsmoor Bridge. The sub-circular shaped earthwork measures approximately 34m in length by 31m in width and is located in close proximity to a number of other clay pits depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. A number of similar such features have also been recorded within the wider area here as part of this survey. The earthwork pit remains partly visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2014.
