An earthwork pit of a possible post-medieval to 19th century clay or gravel pit is visible on aerial photographs of 1948 onwards, to the northeast of Middleton Barton. The irregular shaped earthwork measures approximately 25 in length by 16m in width and lies in close proximity to a clay and gravel pit depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, as well as other earthworks recorded here as part of this survey. The earthwork pit is visible on digital images captured in 2010.
