An irregular pit, 28 metres across, is visible as a dark cropmark on aerial photographs taken in 2010 and as an earthwork on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. No features are depicted on the available historic mapping, and the shape, scale and proximity of the earthwork to numerous extractive pits suggest that it is the remains of a post-medieval extraction pit that had ceased operation by the late-19th century.
