Name:Burrow Field Names to the north of Foxhill Farm, Uffculme

Summary

Group of three fields called North Stone Burrow, Little Stone Burrow and Long Stone Burrow respectively on the 19th century Tithe Apportionment. The 'burrow' element is usually taken to indicate a barrow. However, the fields show evidence of old surface diggings and a number of old marl pits are marked on the 1880s-1890s Ordnance Survey map.

Vis=28/8/1992 (reed and stead) the surface quarrying is still visible and has been fenced off from the rest of the field (emafu)
