An extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the northeast of Collinshayne Copse, Clayhidon. The extent of the earthwork is depicted as an orchard on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of the 1880’s-90’, which it likely pre-dates. The earthwork is irregular in shape, measures approximately 41m in length by 37m in width and is located in an area where numerous similar such features have been recorded as part of this survey. The earthwork remains visible on digital images captured in 2002.
