An extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the northeast of Pring’s Farm, Hemyock. The extent of the earthwork is depicted on the Hemyock Parish Tithe map and is depicted as a copse on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, which the pit likely pre-dates. The earthwork is irregular in shape, measures approximately 115m in length by 42m in width and is located in an area where numerous similar such features have been recorded as part of this survey. The earthwork remains visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2014.
