An extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1950 onwards and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014, to the north of Culmstock Road, Hemyock. The earthwork is semi-circular in shape, measures approximately 40m in length by 23m in width and abuts, and so likely post-dates, an historic and extant field boundary along its western edge.
