An earthwork bank of a possible medieval field boundary is visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014, to the west of Clement’s Farm. The possible earthwork is north to south aligned and closely respects the historic field patterns depicted on the Parish Tithe map of approximately 1838-48, although appears to have passed out of use by this time. The Historic Landscape Characterisation project records this area as comprising ‘Medieval enclosures based on strip fields’. The possible slight earthwork was, however, fairly poorly defined on lidar images and appears in association with other linear features of likely modern agricultural origin, so some caution should be exercised. The possible earthwork was not clearly visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey.
