The possible extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit.

A possible extraction pit of between medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the east of Lower Sheldon Grange. The irregular shaped earthwork measures approximately 104m in length by 28m in width. A copse is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, the copse likely being established within the earthwork sometime after its abandonment. The possible extraction pit is not clearly visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey owing to tree cover here.
