Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.

A small former extractive pit of unknown, but probably post-medieval to 19th century date was visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in early 2016 as a roughly oval earthwork pit up to 17 metres across, cut into the north-facing slope below Perrie Hale Farm, Honiton parish.
The visible earthwork does not match any quarry or extractive pits depicted in precisely this location on the historic map and it had therefore probably passed out of use prior to the 1880s.
The purpose of the pit is unknown but two former clay pits were depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map within a 150 metre radius and a similar function for this relict pit is likely.
