The visible earthworks do not correspond with any depicted boundaries.

This area was probably first enclosed with hedge-banks during the later middle ages. The curving form of the hedge-banks suggests that earlier it may have been farmed as open strip-fields

Former field boundaries of probable medieval to post-medieval origin were visible on digital images derived from lidar data as earthwork banks and ditches on the south-east facing slopes of the Otter Valley, west of Ford Bridge, Luppitt parish. The earthworks do not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Luppitt but, when considered with other relict boundaries in the area, do broadly fall within the dominant enclosure pattern, which has been characterised as probably derived from medieval strip fields. This might support the interpretation that the relict earthworks are evidence of former field boundaries of medieval origin that were removed, probably during an episode of boundary reorganisation, prior to circa 1840.
