A narrow earthwork bank was visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016 on the upper north-west facing slopes of the Otter Valley, within Hedgend Plantation, south-east of Monkton Barton, Monkton Parish. The earthwork is less than 2 metres wide and visible crossing the contours of the slope for approximately 50 metres. The bank does not correspond with any boundary depicted in this location on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map or the Tithe Map for Monkton. However, it could be evidence of a former continuation of a boundary marked downslope to the west. The earthworks are obscured from view on aerial photographs by the dense tree cover of Hedgend Plantation.
