An extraction pit of between post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the east of Underground Farm. The earthwork is irregular in shape and measures approximately 26m in length by 17m in width. It is located in an area where numerous similar such features have been recorded during this survey and from a walkover survey carried out in 2016 associated with the A30/A303 improvement works between Honiton and Devonshire Inn. This monument has been recorded as a child record of MDV114110, which was created following this walkover survey. It includes a number of extraction pits, of which this feature is one. No attempt has, however, been made to individually amend the monument polygons for this parent record. The extraction pit was not visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey owing to tree cover here.
