Summary

An extraction pit of between post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the southwest of Stoneburrow Cottage. It is located in an area where numerous similar such features have been recorded during this survey and from a walkover survey carried out in 2016 (MDV114110) associated with the A30/A303 improvement works between Honiton and Devonshire Inn.

The extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit.

An extraction pit of between post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the southwest of Stoneburrow Cottage. The oval shaped earthwork measures approximately 48m in length by 37m in width and is located in an area where numerous similar such features have been recorded during this survey and from a walkover survey carried out in 2016 (MDV114110) associated with the A30/A303 improvement works between Honiton and Devonshire Inn. The extraction pit remains visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
