Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.

Curvilinear earthwork banks and ditches were visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016 on the west-facing slopes of the Otter Valley, west of Claypitts Farm, Upottery.
The earthwork banks are on average circa 3 metres wide, flanked by narrower ditches. The banks do not correspond to field boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Upottery or the Ordnance Survey 25 inch First Edition map, which are also visible as relict banks but have not been transcribed by the survey, and might be evidence of earlier enclosures, possibly of late medieval date, removed prior to the 1840s.
