An irregular earthwork pit is visible on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards and on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. It roughly corresponds to an irregular area of scrub, a possible pond and an ‘Old Marl Pit’ depicted on the late-19th century OS maps. The earthwork is interpreted as a post-medieval extractive pit that became disused and partly scrubbed up and flooded by the late-19th century.
