A large roughly oval earthwork pit, circa 23 by 27 metres, is visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014, and on aerial photographs taken from 1940 onwards. It is interpreted as the remains of an extractive pit, in common with many similar features in the vicinity. It appears to have become disused by the late-19th century, since no features are marked in this location on the first edition OS maps.
