Relict earthwork banks could be seen on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards defining two conjoined former field enclosures north-facing slopes of a combe within Hense Moor, south of Hensemoor House, Luppitt parish. The enclosed areas are irregular in shape and measure circa 90 by 45 metres and 66 by 70 metres in size. The visible earthworks did not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Luppit or the Ordnance Survey 25inch First Edition map.
The relict banks are probably evidence of piecemeal encroachment onto the moor from the post-medieval period into the early 19th century that had passed out of by the mid to late 19th century.
The former boundaries are visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2010 and 2014. They might be the same earthworks as those recorded as MDV72098.
