A former field boundary was visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s onwards as an earthwork bank and ditch on the north-facing slopes crossing the head of a combe north of Bywood Farm, Dunkeswell.
The visible earthwork did not correspond with any boundary depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map or Tithe Map for Luppitt and had therefore probably passed out of use prior to the mid-19th century.
The earthwork is therefore interpreted as a boundary possibly of later medieval or early post-medieval date that had passed out of use prior to the mid-19th century.
The former boundary remains visible as a slight earthwork bank on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2010.
