A possible continuation of the course of the mill race associated with Luppitt Mill was visible on aerial photographs of 1947 as a slight earthwork ditch or channel on the west facing slopes south of the mill.
The visible earthwork is approximately 3 metres wide and continues southwards for 90 metres from the ‘leat’ or ‘drain’ depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch First Edition 25 inch map and current OS MasterMap base map. The earthwork does not match any channel depicted on the Tithe Map for Luppitt and had therefore passed out of use prior to the 1840s. It appears to end at a field boundary at circa ST17070513, adjacent to a gate or entrance, which might support the interpretation that the relict channel had been subsequently used as a trackway or footpath. The possible mill race remains clearly visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2010.
