The extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit.

An extraction pit of between medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, within Highley Covert. The irregular shaped earthwork measures approximately 60m in length by 34m in width and is located within the site of a copse depicted here on the Parish Tithe map of approximately 1838-48. Two possible irregular shaped earthwork mounds up to 24m in length are visible to the southeast of the extraction pit and may represent associated up-cast material. The earthworks are obscured by tree cover on aerial photographs and other digital images made available to the survey.
