Extraction pits of possible post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the northwest of Sprat’s Copse. The extraction pits comprise two oval shaped earthworks up to 17m in length, with an irregular shaped earthwork likely made up of two intercutting pits and measuring approximately 40m in length by 30m in width located to the south of these. The earthworks are located in close proximity to two similar such earthworks to the east (MDV114680).
