An earthwork pit of a possible former post-medieval to 19th century extraction pit is visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the west of Stockhouse. The earthwork is irregular in shape, measures approximately 54m in length by 37m in width and is situated on gentle southeast facing slope adjacent to a stream. The southern edge of the possible extraction pit is defined on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of the 1880’s-90’s.
