A possible enclosure of post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as a cropmark on digital images of 1999-2000 and as an earthwork ditched feature on lidar images of 2016, to the north of Higher Pithayne Farm. The sub-rectilinear shaped feature measures approximately 25m in length by 17m in width, with a 5m wide ditch and is situated on gentle southeast facing slope, within the site of a former orchard. The function of the earthwork is, however, largely unclear. The enclosure may be of agricultural origin or perhaps represents evidence of extractive workings, the association of extraction pits later occupied by an orchard, also recorded here, being a common theme during this project.
