A possible small former extractive pit was visible on aerial photographs of 1950 and digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2014 as a shallow, roughly oval earthwork pit approximately 20 metres across on the south-east facing slopes of Sidling Common, east of Wolverstone Moor, Awliscombe parish.
The pit is not depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map or Tithe Map for Awliscombe parish. This might support the interpretation that the pit had passed out of use prior to the 1840s. Alternatively, the pit could have been made in the late 19th or early 20th century. The function of the pit is uncertain.
